NYC Birthday Staycation at the Ludlow

Three years ago I made a commitment to take celebrating my birthday more seriously and incorporate more seIf-care into my birthday plans. I wrote a whole post about it here. This year, I celebrated a milestone birthday and decided that I wanted to to do something different. I started the day by treating myself to a hot stone massage, a manicure and pedicure, and then I packed my overnight bag and headed downtown to enjoy a mini-staycation at the Ludlow Hotel. It didn’t disappoint. The Ludlow is located in the Lower East Side of New York City, and flaunts all of the charm of one of the oldest neighborhoods in lower Manhattan.

I checked into the Sky Box Loft room. A really cute and luxurious room with a charming sitting room that offers 180 degree views of Manhattan, a window soaking tub with beautiful gold fixtures, luxury bathrobes and the most comfortable bed that I’ve ever slept on in a hotel. The Italian luxury linens were immaculate.

Dirty French is, you guessed it, a French restaurant inside of the hotel. I peeked in, but wasn’t able to check it out. It’ is beautifully decorated. You can order room service through your cell phone. I ordered breakfast in bed the last morning that I was there. It was quite good.

The lobby offers an outdoor seating space and an indoor lounge with a bar, foodservice and comfortable leather sofas around a cozy fireplace. I enjoyed a glass of wine and an order of fries, while I waited for friends to go out to dinner. There is also a deck on the 20th floor that you can relax and bring your bottle of wine. It would be an ideal spot to enjoy on a warm, sunny afternoon. I guess I’ll have to come back and visit the Ludlow a little bit more in the spring or summer, when New York’s temperatures are more stable.

If smaller boutique hotels with luxe furnishings are your vibe, I recommend giving the Ludlow a stay. Thank you Ludlow Hotel, for completing my birthday self-care plans.
