Five Affordable Skincare Products to Keep Your Dry Skin Feeling Scrumptious
It’s time to get your skin-care routine established and keep your coins!
Fall is now officially upon us. It’s pumpkin-spice latte, and sweater and jeans season. It’s also the cue for me to take some extra care with my skin before the disrespectful New York City wind-chills come-a-knocking. My skin gets so bad that I’m itchy and super irritated. Ladies, once you start approaching your 40’s, you need to pay even more attention to your skin. Black may not crack, but anyone’s skin will turn on you if you don’t treat it right. I’ve seen a dermatologist for my dry skin, and been recommended expensive serums and lotions, but through my trial and error, I found that there are some pretty good budget-friendly items that effectively give my skin the TLC that it deserves. Here’s a few that all are under $20!
Fresh “Soy Face Wash”
My face is actually normal, not dry, but it can be a little sensitive. I’m in love with several Fresh beauty products, but this one is the holy grail. It’s gentle enough for my skin, yet cleans away all make up and impurities leaving my face very soft and supple. A little goes a long way, and for $15 you can give the 1.6 oz small size a try.Trader Joe’s “Rose Water Facial Toner Spray”
If you know me, you know that I love Trader Joe’s. It’s up there with my bae, Target. In the near future I’ll definitely do a post on my favorite items that I regularly buy from there. Right now, focus on this heavenly smelling rose facial spray. It has rose water and witch hazel that refreshes and hydrates your skin. I use it after cleansing my face, or whenever I need a little pick me up. At 3.99, it’s so affordable that you can grab a few. I keep one in my gym bag. It’s especially nice to use after I come out of the sauna on my face and natural hair. Fun fact: My daughter has a much more expensive name brand facial spray, but continuously borrows this one. It’s that good.Shea Moisture’s “100% Virgin Coconut Oil Daily Hydration 2-in-1 Bubble Bath & Body Wash”
I had to give up regular soap a few years ago and try all natural products. Everything was irritating me and making me super itchy. I’ve tried a few of the Shea Moisture body washes and all of them are pretty hydrating, but this coconut one has been the best for my skin. It’s luxurious and very moisturizing. It leaves my skin actually looking like I applied an oil to it in the shower, without it feeling sticky. I found that layering moisturizing products is the key for my skin, and this is an excellent start. 8.99 at Target.Trader Joe’s “Vitamin E Oil Blend”
I like to layer oils under my body creams or lotion. One option is another Trade Joe goodie, their Vitamin E Oil blend. I layer it under a lotion to give my skin extra moisture It’s also great alone to soften your hands, face and feet. You can give it a try for $3.99Olly “Glowing Skin Gummy Vitamins”
In an effort to do a little more, I decided to try to give my skin some extra help from the inside out. These are berry flavored gummy vitamins that give your body a boost of hyaluronic acid and collagen, two things that help the condition of your skin. The older we get, the more we need to replenish this to help with elasticity and overall texture. They taste pretty good and aren’t too expensive. I paid $15 for a bottle of 50 at Sephora, but you can possibly get them a little cheaper at Amazon. What are your affordable go-to skin care products? Tell me below.
